Selected recent UK news items of more general interest:
Spring Budget 2017 was presented by the Chancellor of the Exchequer to Parliament on 8 March. At the same time the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) published updated forecasts in its economic and fiscal outlook. The House of Commons Library has published a briefing paper containing a summary of the budget and the OBR's forecasts. The Government Actuary's Department (GAD) also published a bulletin considering a number of the announcements including the reduction in the personal injury discount rate and forthcoming changes to Insurance Premium Tax. On 2 March, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) published a consultation on their draft guidance on consent under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The consultation closes on 31 March 2017 and the ICO aim to publish guidance in May.
